Merry Christmas!
Hopefully you got to sleep in a bit later than I did for Christmas! I got a call this morning shortly after 6:00 a.m. because of a “problem with Axway”. With the exception of needing to have somebody physically at the office log me into my computer, and my failure to write down the [...]

Codepage 850 characterset
Does XIB/Integrator support the codepage850(multilanguage) codeset?
I need to convert codepage850 characters to iso8859.
P.S. I’m aware of the $CORE_ROOT/csc directory and the CSC_NAME directive…
I read the news today, oh boy.
So I was going to title the blog entry “a day in the life”, but all I could think of then was the lyrics to the Beatles’ song of the same name. It’s funny how a song that you know the lyrics to can act as a cue for recollecting much greater amounts of data [...]
Patches/Service Packs
Hey all,
In light of my recent discovery that while we’re only on SP6 patch 1 of Gateway and patch 7 was just released, I’m hoping to find out what other users do in terms of patch/service pack installation and planning. Since we’re expecting Service Pack 7 the last week of December, I was looking on the support site to see what was out there, and realized that we haven’t established any sort of “best practices” surrounding installation of service packs and patches. As such, I was hoping folks might be able to provide insight on the following questions -
1. How are you notified about patches/service packs? If you proactively check the website, how often do you do so?
2. How do you make decisions about which patches/service packs to install. Do you install them all?
3. Do you take any special measures to mitigate risk when installing patches/service packs? (Outside of standard testing in whichever environments you have available)
Thanks in advance, I’m looking forward to getting some insight from other users on what’s come up unexpectedly as a topic of question/need for documentation and process modeling.

Topics migration from the YahooGroups
Dear Axway Community,
You have probably noticed that some topics and posts have been created by a user called “eGroups Migration”.
This is used to import the most recent topics of the YahooGroups into the Axway User Forum.
There is one little drawback: the names of the people who initially posted those messages still appear at the bottom of each post… which does not mean that those people have already subscribed on the Axway User Forum.
If you reply to one of these posts, you will certainly get an answer, but probably not from the person who initially wrote the post.
Anyone here seen your FTP task completely halted?
Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone of you had this problem. You set up a new integration that reads from a directory( FTP retrieve) , and route it to another server(FTP send). We have about 30 of these integration. It was working happily nothing is wrong. All of a sudden, everything stops!! Nothing in the message log and trace viewer. No errors.
Yes it just stops..the FTP retrieve methods are not working anymore, all FTP process halts. Just the FTP. I restart the FTP transfer adapter and FTP service task, but it doesn’t help. Files keeps on piling for hours. What we’ve done now is we’ve written scripts to monitor a directory and if files in tha directories are not moved for 10 minutes, alert supporting staff.
All FTP connectors will only work again if I restart XIB, which is something we want to avoid in the production server.
Send it to axway guys…but it’s useless, they say our script has problems saying our CD “directory-name” has no “/” at the back. I guess they didn’t notice that we told them it was working for days and it halted all of a sudden. If there is something wrong with the script it wouldn’t have worked in the first place. Then they come up with a solution…use XFB!!
Anyway, forget about XFB at the moment..has anyone here encounter this problem before? I don’t want to explore in new products before knowing this is unsolvable.
Brgds,
Darren
X12 830 Document Looping
I am new to Datamapper and have been unsuccessful in solving my current error. I have asked Axway professional services for support but they have not provided a solution.
I have a fixed format input file that needs to be parsed into the X12 830 document. Input looks something like:
830PSH SAFEWAY ADDRESS CITY STATE ZIP VENDOR ADDRESS CITY STATE ZIP
The output needs to be written into the X12 830 document as:
N1,FR,SAFEWAY
N3,ADDRESS
N4,CITY,STATE,ZIP
N1,TO,VENDOR
N3,ADDRESS
N4,CITY,STATE,ZIP
The first issue is that the X12 830 output writes N1,N1,N3,N3,N4,N4. I have had no luck in solving this issue.
The second issue is that if I loop I am unable to determine if the Origin and Destination names are filled appropriately. If I code a @variable<>”" in the condition and a “FR” in the expression, I will get a “FR” in the N1,e01 everytime. The only option I see at this point would be to code @variable=”SAFEWAY” then N1,e01 should be “FR”. This works but I have not been able to solve a simple IF/THEN/ELSE solution to put the “TO” in N1,e01 if the @variable is not SAFEWAY.
This seems like it should be easy but is proving complex. Any ideas?
thanks
Russ
Override, small file names?
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience on how the file name can be overridden for very small files?
There is apparently a default value of minimum file size 4096………the big problem is that we are using Synchrony 3.3.1, that makes things hard (Designer controls XIB!!).

Integrator V2.1.1 error (log id logger_157_0000000006203364 is inactive, discarding further logging)
Hi All,
Does anyone know what the following warning in the TraceViewer means and how it’s caused, but more important how to solve?
Logger entry with log id logger_157_0000000006203364 is inactive, discarding further logging
Thanks in advance,

Datamapper Scratch Pad Variables
Hi,
Do anyone has idea about the below issue:
I am using scratch pad variables to map to target field. In Simulation trace I can see the value of the scratch pad variable correctly but still it did not fire it to target field. In some other map it does the desired function but sometimes I have seen this it is not mapping value to output field.
Is there any special reason for values to be mapped to output field?
Thanks for help!!
Neeraj
